About WorkSafe's Clinical Panel:
WorkSafe’s Clinical Panel is engaged to undertake clinical reviews and provide clinical and rehabilitation support and advice to WorkSafe's claims staff, agents and healthcare providers. The ultimate objective of the Clinical Panel is to collaborate with agents to ensure timely and appropriate return to work and maximise health outcomes for injured workers.
WorkSafe is creating a register of suitably qualified medical practitioners to provide Clinical Advisor Services on WorkSafe's Clinical Panel.
Clinicians are invited to apply for a position on the Register by adequately addressing a combination of mandatory criteria, screening questions and relevant professional declarations.
WorkSafe is seeking applications from Medical Practitioners (in particular from the following specialties):
- Addiction Medicine
- General Practice
- Occupational and Environmental Medicine
- Pain Medicine
- Rehabilitation Medicine
- Sport and Exercise Medicine
About the Clinical Advisor role:
The role of the Clinical Advisor is to provide clinical advisory services, including the following
- Provision of specialist clinical advice relating to WorkSafe Victoria claims to WorkSafe Victoria and its Agents.
- Direct liaison with healthcare professionals providing services in line with the principles of the Clinical Framework.
- Full and accurate documentation of all conversations with treating healthcare professionals and clearly stated recommendations
- Provision of professional advice and support to healthcare professionals and Health Strategy as required.
- Contribution to the development and presentation of educational workshops and materials
- Contributing to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of strategies and initiatives by providing specialist advice.
- Assisting in the identification and piloting of best practice claims and treatment review strategies with particular focus on promoting early intervention, return to work, better health outcomes and appropriate risk management strategies. To join the register you must meet the following mandatory criteria:
Skills & Experience
- Hold current registration as required under the Health Practitioner National Registration Law (Victoria) Act 2009 with no conditions, undertakings, reprimands, limitations or restrictions on registration
- Hold or be insured under a current public indemnity insurance policy with a cover of at least $5 Million with respect to any single event.
- Have worked a minimum of 5 years in direct clinical care as a practitioner in your chosen discipline.
- Maintain an active clinical practice of at least 8 hours per week. “Active Clinical Practice” in this context means directly treating and managing patients.
- Hold a current membership of the relevant peak professional association for your discipline.
- Have met any Continuing Professional Development requirements as required by the relevant registration board.
